Once a king named Ajasaththa planned an invasion of the Lichchavee nation, and on hearing this, Lord Buddha addressed his disciple Ananda.

Ananda, have you heard that the Lichchavees regularly assemble together in large numbers? I have so heard, Ananda replied.

Well Ananda, so long as the Lichchavees assemble regularly and in large numbers, just so long may the prosperity of the Lichchavees be looked for and not their decay.
So Ananda, as the Lichchavees assemble in harmony and disperse in harmony, so long as they conduct their government and business in harmony, so long the prosperity of the Lichchavees be looked for and not their decay.
LORD BUDDHA
